This year (2003/4) is the second year of the module CA107, Topics in
Computing. The home
page for the module from last year, 2002/3, is available.
Exam Format: Many students
ask me about how this module is to be examined. As the module descriptor
says, there is no continuous assessment, and the module is examined by
a single, 2-hour examination. The format of this examination is that it
will consist of 5 questions, and you will be required to answer ANY THREE
of these questions. All questions will carry equal marks and each of the
five questions on the paper will ask something about ONE of the 12 topics
in the course. None of the 12 topics will be repeated twice. Each question
will be general, and broad. See last
year's exam paper and the
repeat (Autumn 2003) paper (campus access only) for the kind of questions
that are likely to come up.
Timetable for the lectures: The
module will consist of 12 lectures and the schedule below, but it is subject
to change as lectures might get swopped around.
Results of the Survey
of Student Opinion of Teaching on
this module
(it should be noted that this survey was completed
by the (biased) sample of those who turn up for lectures and did not include
the large number of students who choose not to attend lectures)
