Final Year Projects
In the final year of the B.Sc. in Computer Applications
degree the students complete a major project, which counts
towards one-seventh of their overall mark (one whole subject).
These projects are completed in the application area of the students'
choice, with ideas coming from various sources including third-year placement,
other external companies, research interests of staff, and of course original
ideas from the students themselves. Each individual or team brings the
project from analysis and design, through the development process, and
finally to testing and documentation.
Dublin City University is well known for its strong relationship with
industry and the annual Champagne Breakfast and display of
projects provides an opportunity for the industrial and business
community to see the standard and range of development work carried
out by the students of School of Computing and Computational
Linguistics.
As a requirement for the
M.Sc.
in E-Commerce (Business and Technical), students undertake an
entrepreneurial or innovative e-commerce project (practicum) in
small teams. The "practicum" takes place over the summer
period. The projects may be provided by corporate clients or may
involve some of the students' own ideas.Previous
practicum reports are available online
