School of Computing Webspace

  • Each Student of the School of Computing has their own web space where they can publish their html pages.

  • This web space comes under the same rules as the computing labs. Any deviation from these rules incurs a €20 fine.

  • Your web space is hosted on the student (Apache) web server which runs on our Linux server.

  • To 'publish' your web pages you need to copy your html files to your UNIX/Linux home directory. You can connect to your UNIX home directory throught the 'S:' drive link ('Map Unix Home' icon on desktop) or SSH in Windows; or simply reboot into Linux and log in there. You must place your files in a directory called public_html (all lower case) in your UNIX home directory. Name your main homepage index.html then point your browser at:
    http://student.computing.dcu.ie/~jblogs-ca1/index.html or simply:
    http://student.computing.dcu.ie/~jblogs-ca1
Replace jblogs-ca1 with your School of Computing username.

  • Note: CARMAC is the main DCU student server, not the School of Computings. Ours is called simply called student. If you have problems connecting to CARMAC then please contact the main CSD helpdesk.
