  • School of Computing Research Scholarships
    (19th October '05)

    DCU School of Computing provides a lively, supportive environment for research in computing. The School has over 70 research students and a wide range of funded projects at national and international level.

    The School is offering a number of research scholarships to outstanding graduates under its School Scholarship scheme, and is currently inviting applications. The scholarships support Ph.D. research for three years and include:

    • Stipend of up to 12,700 per annum
    • Full fees paid for E.U. students (non-EU nationals can apply for fee exemption)
    • Fully equipped personal workspace
    • Opportunities to travel to international conferences

  • Working Papers Library Re-Launched
    (4th October '05)

    The Working Papers library has been re-launched. The library is a paper and electronic archive of technical reports produced by the school, going back to 1986.

  • Second Information Quality Forum
    (30th September '05)

    The IQ Network Ireland in conjunction with DCU School of Computing, the Irish Computer Society and the International Association for Information and Data Quality invites delegates from enterprises, industry, academia and research to attend the second Information Quality Forum in the Helix, Dublin City University on October 13th, 2005 to explore and discuss some of the key concepts and ideas in improving information quality.

  • Search Engine Experts converge on DCU

    The Centre for Digital Video Processing (CDVP) at Dublin City University is bringing together fifteen search engine experts to Dublin City University in September for a Summer School an Information Retrieval. The fifteen experts are from Research Institutes and Universities throughout Europe, and includes a previous head of research at Google as well as those regarded as being the founding fathers of information retrieval.

    ESSIR 2005, the European Summer School on Information Retrieval is a bi-annual event, which has previously been hosted in the UK, Italy and most recently France in 2003. One hundred graduate and post-doctoral students from all over Europe and beyond will attend the week-long Summer school to hear the experts give lectures on topics such as Web Search Engines, Multimedia Search, and Personalising Search Engines. The target audience of the Summer School are PhD students, post-doctoral researchers and academic and industrial researchers.

    The ESSIR 2005 Summer school will run from 5-9 September 2005 in Dublin City University. It is being organised and hosted by the Centre for Digital Video Processing, part of the Adaptive Information Cluster at Dublin City University.
