  • The Teaching and Learning Committee awarded up to £4000 to Margaret Farren: (11th August '00)
    Well done and congrats to Margaret Farren who has been awarded up to £4000 by the University's Teaching and Learning Committee for "Multimedia development support facilities". This builds upon the Setanta project (collaboration with St Aidan's school next door) which Margaret and Ray Walshe have been running and the grant will also be used to help in teaching the MCE degree.
  • The Centre for Digital Video Processing receives funding:(2nd August '00)
    The Centre for Digital Video Processing has just received funding from Enterprise Ireland to allow 3 more years work on indexing, browsing, searching, alerting, filtering and summarising digital video material.

  • INRIA led Worldwide Calculation for Biggest Public-key Cryptography Crack:(2nd August '00)
    Extracts from an article that appeared in July 2000 ERCIM News No. 42. - Researchers at INRIA announced on 13th April the solution to the most difficult public key cryptographic challenge ever solved after a huge calculation on close to 10,000 computers throughout the Internet. The School of Computing helped with this process.

  • ISOS Project welcomes new Research Assistant :(2nd August '00)
    Mr. Evan Lloyd has joined the ISOS project as a Research Assistant for a period of 12 months. The ISOS project is a collaboration between the School of Computing at DCU and the Dublin Institute for Advanced Studies
