Minister for Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation attends CNGL Localisaton Innovation Showcase

The Minister for Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation, Richard Bruton TD  yesterday (16 November 2011) attended a showcase of work by the Science Foundation Ireland-funded Centre for Next Generation Localisation (CNGL) at Croke Park Convention Centre, Dublin to see at first hand the economic benefits being generated by the Government’s investment in third level research. CNGL is a €40m academia-industry research centre, led by DCU, which incorporates four academic partner institutions (DCU, TCD, UCD and UL) and ten industry partners.

Computing Student Adam Bermingham wins Irish Software Association Award

Adam Bermingham, a PhD student working under the supervision of Professor Alan Smeaton, has won this year's Irish Software Association award for a student project with the greatest commercial potential. This is the second year in a row that a CLARITY student has won the award.

SCHOOL OF COMPUTING HOSTS INTERNATIONAL ORGANIZATION FOR STANDARDIZATION

The School of Computing hosted a group of 26 international experts from the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) Working Group 24 in DCU from 7th to 11th November 2011. ISO/IEC JCT1/SC7 WG24 is a sub-group of the ISO’s Software and Systems Engineering standards group. WG24 is an expert group on Software Process Lifecycle for Very Small Entities and are the authors of the international standard ISO/IEC 29110.

Workday are Recruiting and will host a talk with Redbrick in DCU

Workday with Redbrick will be holding a talk next Tuesday 15th of November from 6-7pm in QG13 which should be of great interest to students. There'll be a variety of talks and the careers based and technical interview parts may be of particular interest to 3rd years going into Intra and final years applying for graduate positions in the computing industry.
