With a background of
many years in the development and implementation of IT applications,
Howard Duncan's main areas of interest are in Software Engineering
and Project Management issues, and Business Process Management.
He is interested in practical experience in the use of development
methods, and how they are adapted to meet particular needs.
Currently Mr. Duncan
is focusing on both the technology and the social aspects of organisational
change. In particular, this means methods of modelling workflow
design, and the technology for supporting workflow systems on
the one hand, and the social issues of designing and implementing
change in organisational systems on the other.
Mr. Duncan also has
an interest in issues of software process. He is currently working
with a research student on a survey of Project Management frameworks
in use in the Irish IT sector, and their Critical Success Factors.
Mr. Duncan has managed a project to develop a version of the Personal
Software Process suited to the European SME sector, and is currently
working with Agile Development Methods.
