This directory contains 3 files related to my SIGIR96 paper on searching captions using word-word distances. The paper is

"Experiments on Using Semantic Distances Between Words in Image Caption retrieval", A.F. Smeaton and I. Quigley, in: Proceedings of the 19th International Conference on Research and Development in Information Retrieval (SIGIR96) Zurich, Switzerland, August 1996, pp.174-180, and is available here as Postscript

The three files are queries.txt, rel_docs.txt and captions (which is a zipped tarfile, so "SAVE LINK AS" to download it).

The original images came from a CD, purchased from Walnut Creek and entited "GIFS Galore", but I don't have a copy any more.
