Robotics Research at DCU
There is a robotics research group in Computer Applications. The main characters
involved are
- Staff
- Postgraduate students
- Bang Wang (recently
departed for Canada with his PhD). Bang’s thesis is “A study of mobile robot motion planning”.
- Keith Daly is working on
robot simulators
- Michael Hunt and Bernard O Connell are applying fuzzy
logic to mobile robot path planning.
- Dermot Hannon is comparing
different methods of robot control.
- Andrew Beattie
Equipment
We have two TAG FRANK mobile robots (track based) which are normally controlled using an 80188
board running C(++) programs. We also have four of the MIT Rug Warrier robots. These may be used as
the basis of a graduate course in mobile robotics.
There is a lot of robotics related material on the WEB.
Find out who else is interested in the Who's Who of robotics.
A micromouse competition
is organised by TCD Vision Group.
