NEWS -
One or two people have asked if I could answer some questions so I will run one more lecture on the 11th March (Monday) in C104 as normal. Note that this is NOT an exam prep lecture, rather if you have any questions I'll be there to answer them...
Project Deadline Extension (day students only) : 8th March (Friday) - Get the project in as soon as you can, but anytime up until Friday is fine...
Project Deadlines (see above) : 4th March (Monday) for CA4 and CL4 (both essay and XML) and for the CAE4s the deadline (both essay and XML again) is 18th March (Monday). Project requirements are in the relevant sections linked to below. If you have forgotten the password and need access mail me.
XML
Labs : I have booked LG.26 for Wednesday 13th February from 2:30pm - 4pm for XML issues. Jaimin Ye will be there to help answer any questions that people may have about the project. Remember that, as before, this is not a tutorial to review XML, rather it is to answer any questions regarding the project or any specific problems that you may be having.
XML
Labs : I have booked L1.28 for Wednesday 5th December from 2pm - 4pm for XML issues. Jaimin Ye will be there to help answer any questions that people may have about the project, software, etc... This is not a tutorial to review XML, so if you are seeking an XML tutorial this is not the place to go. Rather it is to answer any questions regarding the project.
XML
Project Update : For those doing the XML project, it seems as if the version of IE installed in the labs is incapable of accurately supporting the use of XSLTs. Consequently I recommend that anyone doing the project should use CSSs (which are easier) as opposed to XSLTs. If you do want to use XSLTs beware that they may not work in the labs, but I myself will be able to view them and mark the project. In addition, I am awating the installation of some XML authoring software in one of the labs. I expect this to be completed within the next week or so.
XML
Project News : This project will require
the development of an XML application to model
some real world Information Storage and Retrieval
problem, such as a library, video store, book
store, Yahoo style web page classification,
etc... Here are the instructions for the XML
Project and a list of the projects that I have recieved. If you have sent me a project and are not on the list please let me know asap!
- Essay
Project NEWS : If doing the essay, the instructions for the
continuous assessment essay, a template for the essay, and a list of essay topics chosen by the classes
and the topics chosen in
1999/2000
(links to these essays don't work).
