Work Information

I am currently a Phd student in School of computing, Dublin city University (DCU). My research group is the modeling and scientific computing.

My Research

I am working in recognition of Irish sign-language.  A research area that involves pattern recognition, principle components analysis, hidden markov models, hand extraction, hand tracking, etc. We aim to build a system that can recognise a significant number of signs from a sign language for the Deaf such as ISL (Irish Sign Language). The system should be able to run on a standard PC and use only a single webcam. The webcam feeds live video images to the PC where they are processed. For more details click here

Workgroup

My supervisor is Dr. Alistair Sutherland. And I am working with Tommy Coogan who is another postgraduate student.
