CA400 - Fourth Year Project Marking Scheme

Because of the fact that the 4th year project now carries a total of 15 credits
a more detail marking scheme for the components of this module has been devised.
The breakdown for a typical Software Development Project is as follows :

Documentation (20%)

Note a single, one volume hard copy of the relevant documentation (user manual/technical manual/code) to be submitted at 4.00. pm. on the deadline date.

Technical content (60%)

Technical content includes the following  headings

    1. Functionality - (does as specified)

    2. Work/Time involved

    3. Technical Difficulty

    4. Research (new things that had to be learned)

    5. Software Design

    6. Interface design

Oral presentation (the Demo) (20%)

In the case of "Research Based Projects" (new to 2005) much the same as the above will apply. There will still be 20% for the quality of the Oral Presentation (well organised, clear etc..) and 20% for the quality of the Documentation (also well organised, good layout etc..). The remaining 60% will be for the actual substance of what work was carried out. It is understood by examiners that in some cases some of the sub-categories mentioned above may be simply unapplicable.
