Gary Keogh - e-mail/communications Conventions and Policy
1. In view of the increasing amount of e-mail that I now receive (including SPAM, over 1,000 e-mails per week!), I have adopted the following conventions for communication in this manner with regard to the modules I teach. Note, even these conventions will not guarantee that the SPAM assassin won't delete them as, for obvious reasons, I have to set the defaults for it at quite aggressive levels.
2. Please use the code indicated below as the
start of the e-mail
subject field if you are sending me e-mail with regard to the following:
| Mathematical Statistics I (FM2/MS2/BQF) | CA255 + Subject of e-mail |
| Mathematical Statistics II (FM2/MS2/BQF) | CA258 + Subject of e-mail |
| Statistics (AF2) | CA234 + Subject of e-mail |
| 3rd year Project (CA day) | CA326 + Subject of e-mail |
| 4th year Project (CA day) | CA400 + Subject of e-mail |
| 4th year Project (CAE Evening) | CAE400 + Subject of e-mail |
| Structural Science | CA627 + Subject of e-mail |
| Personel Tutor Communication | PT + Subject of e-mail |
2. I will not
answer e-mail making requests to individually give information
that has been either given in lectures or that is posted on my
web site.
3. I will not answer e-mails with blank subject fields.
4. I'm happy to talk to anyone after lectures, and can usually be found in my office after lectures
5. In a real emergency
the school secretary and the faculty office have my mobile number and they can
contact me.
