About me

I am a Phd student in Dublin City University's School of Computing. Specifically, I am a member of the Biocomputation Research Lab (BRL), which looks at how sophisticated algorithms and high performance/distributed computing can be applied to solve problems in the biotechnology field. Under the supervision of Prof. Heather Ruskin and Dr. Martin Crane, and in conjunction with NICB, I am analysing gene expression dataset properties, algorithms used to find patterns in these datasets and validation thereof.

Before starting my Phd in 2004, I completed a Masters in Bioinformatics in DCU. As part of this course I, in co-operation with others, investigated the modeling of bacteria/antibiotic interactions in silico and to this end developed an agent based software application BAIT (Bacteria-Antibiotic Interaction Tool), which later evolved to the Micro-Gen tool through work by Dr. James Murphy. Previous to coming to DCU, I studied in Trinity College Dublin, where I received my Bachelors Degree in Computer Science in 2002.
