Hello,I am Jiamin Ye and finished my PhD study in the School of Computing, Dublin City University in August 2004. I was a member of Centre for Digital Video Processing (CDVP) and involved within the development of various video and MPEG-7 related projects. Prof.Alan Smeaton was my supervisor during the course of my study.

I am currently working as a software developer for Friends First. I previously worked as lecturer & administrator for a small Dublin college (2006/2007). In 2004/2005 I worked as a part-time voluntary web developer for Oxfam Ireland HQ.

My Ph.D. research (Aggregated Feature Video Retrieval for MPEG-7 via Clustering) was in the area of digital video indexing and retrieval. This work required the development of a video retrieval application in Java and XML for video and the combination of low level visual features and dialogue (i.e. ASR transcripts). The goal of the project aims to improve the performance of the retrieval system. The abstract of my thesis can be seen here.

My M.Sc. dissertation (Building a Funky Interface to a Web Search Engine) was a report, based on a review of information seeking models and the issues on human interface design, aiming to study users' information searching and browsing behaviors of the Internet. The work required the creation of an new interface on top of an existing search engine in Java language and the integration of relevance feedback function for search.
