  • In the area of agricultural research, a study recently carried out examined various methods for modelling the shape of lactation curves in Irish dairy cows. Lactation curve equations developed in Killen, L and Keane, M Irish Journal of Agricultural Research Vol 17 267-282 (1978) have been improved upon on the basis of more up-do-date data and the use of better methodology and new techniques.  This research was funded by a Teagasc Walsh Fellowship until 2007, and has resulted in a number of refereed publications and contributions to conferences.  This work is still on-going

  • Some research has recently been carried out as part of an on-going investigation in the School of Chemical Sciences into the state of science, and in particular Chemisty, in secondary schools. A small survey of Chemistry teachers was carried out and analysed, and extensions to this study are now under way.

  • Some work is under way on evaluation of machine translation methodologies in conjunction with SALIS.
