The Interoperable Systems Group (ISG) have three teams (currently) working on XML Database Optimisation, Streaming and Sensor Data, and Integration of Information Systems. While the group is now very busy with few places available, there is still an opportunity to join this leading edge group in one of their highly topical research areas.
We will have a new PhD scholarship position available in October 2008 working in the area of sensor networks.
WP: Multiple Integration Axes for Heterogeneous Sensor Networks
This position will require the optimisation of XPath queries across streamed data, generated by a variety of sensor devices. This ISG will collaborate with Sports Scientists to manage personal fitness & health sensors and with environmental scientists to manage air and water sensors.
