If you are lucky enough to own a PC with an AMD processor, try downloading and experimenting with AMD’s CodeAnalyst program, which profiles your code and finds “hotspots”. It also includes a very nice pipeline simulator – see www.amd.com and click on “develop with AMD”

A new tool winmips64 has been developed for use with the MIPS64 processor as described in the latest version of the text-book. It is free, so download it if you wish.
