About the Group
The Modelling & Scientific Computing group was formally established in the
DCU School of Computing in 2001, and is mostly concerned with
computational models/methods, and scientific applications of computing. This includes areas ranging from Social to Environmental and Biological, and
employs different computational approaches, such as agent-based or mathematical modelling, taking advantage of parallel and distributed computing for analysis and simulation.
There are 4 staff members, 4 postdoctoral researchers and 9 research postgraduates associated
with the group, conducting research in the areas listed above,
amongst others.
The group produced the first Phd thesis in the School of Computing, and
approximately 15 more Phd theses and 18 Masters theses have been awarded since.
