I am a PostDoctoral researcher in the Centre for Digital Video Processing (which is a part of CLARITY: Centre for Sensor Web Technologies) in Dublin City University. My research interests lie in Information and Knowledge Management and I have worked on the management of personal media collections, person recognition in photo collections, multimedia information retrieval and, most recently, sentiment analysis of online text documents.

I completed my PhD dissertation Semi-Automatic Person-Annotation in Context-Aware Personal Photo Collections in 2007, under the supervision of Prof. Alan Smeaton. I subsequently worked on aceMedia, an FP6 Integrated Project on integrating knowledge, semantics and content for user-centered intelligent media services and K-Space, an FP6 Network of Excellence in semantic inference for semi-automatic annotation and retrieval of multimedia content. For each of these projects, I was responsible for managing DCU's activities in the project, which involved content-based multimedia analysis and retrieval and, for K-Space, managing integration activities within the Network.

I am currently working as a Postdoctoral Researcher and Project Manager on an Enterprise Ireland-funded collaboration with Zignals, an Irish company working in online stock trading. My research on this project focuses on Sentiment Analysis and Opinion Mining of financial blogs.
