SSADM Project
Take the systems description in the case study and produce:
- A Business
Activity Model (Task level approx 15 tasks)
- Logical Data
model. (Entities and relationships - be careful on naming both sides; on
optionality and degree, cardinality)
- Top level
context diagram for DFD
- Document
Flow Diagram
- Physical
Level One DFD c. 10 processes
- Take two
of these physical processes and explode them into physical level 2 DFDs.
- Give the
Logical DFDs for the latter two physical level 2 DFDs.
- Give two
functions from these DFDs and explain their purpose.
- Give the
I/O diagram for one of the Functions within this DFD.
Produce 5 data dictionary entries as described below. (Use the data dictionary forms examples on moodle and the Select SSADM Tool as a guide)
2 process descriptions (Structured English)
1 Data flow (its components, location etc. p139)
1 Entity Description (see Weaver page 108)
1 Data Store (File Description )
In the absence of being able to interview the users of this system you must make intelligent assumptions and record these with your models
Due Date: Tuesday 13th December In project box by 6pm
Put in assignment box in lab. Make it a simple stapled copy in plastic pocket. All in A4 format with readable cover. Put standard identification and signature on outside.
You should use the Select SSADM CASE tool on the network or another CASE tool for drawing the diagrams.
It is an individual assignment worth
50% of marks so plagiarism and late entries will be dealt with accordingly.
