History of my life (short edition)
After leaving Terenure College, I spent two very happy years in the Regional Technical College in Waterford studying for a National Certificate in Commercial Computing. After which I completed a B.Sc. in Computer Applications here at Dublin City University. In between I have worked for a variety of organisations, including; Hiberno Software, Johnson & Johnson, Teagasc and Guinness Ireland Information Services. Between 1993 and 1995 I worked in the Centre for Software Engineering where I completed my M.Sc. research in the area of software process modelling, after which I joined the Centre for Teaching Computing as a Research Officer. In September 1996 was appointed as Project Team Leader for an EU fourth framework project Prompter, which was successfully completed in February 1999. During this period also I undertook Ph.D. research in City University (London) under the supervision of Dr. J.O. Jenkins, where I investigated the role of intelligent support techniques in software project management support systems, specifically the use of intelligent agents as the basis for the creation of intelligent assistant systems. I was awarded my Ph.D. in March 2000. In 2000 I was appointed as a Lecturer in the School of Computing, and in January 2006 I was appointed as a Senior Lecturer. I currently teach a variety of courses and am involved in a number of research projects.
