To introduce more realism to synthesized sign language avatars through various non-manual features (NMFs). Research into synthesising sign languages is still in the early stages of development. Most existing systems use animated agents (Avatars) to synthesise sign language in real-time. This task has proved difficult because the nuance of natural human movement has proved too complex to simulate authentically. State-of-the-art sign language synthesis can be compared to the somewhat robotic and artificial nature of early speech synthesis output.
