Who, What, Where...?

School of Computing DCU Research Group
I worked in the Centre for Digital Video Processing which is located in the School of Computing on the DCU campus. The CDVP is a collaboration between both the Schools of Computing and Electronic Engineering. I also worked as part of the Science Foundation Ireland funded Adaptive Information Cluster.

Research Interests

My interests lay in how analysis of the audio content of digital video could aid in automatic summarisation and classification, specifically how analysis of film music could be used to track emotions in feature film and upon which an alternative method of content description could be developed, leading to applications in table-of-contents generation, summarisation and classification of feature films. As part of investigating the effect of film music on our perception, I explored the physiological effects of watching film, gathering and analysing data from an array of sensors worn by people as they watched feature films in a cinema-like environment.
