What is it?
Essentially it's a hunt for great ideas. We want to encourage emerging talent in the run up to the second Appys award show. We want to identify the next wave of developers. We spoke with Nokia, many third level institutions and development firms. The result will be a quick-fire speed networking session, where final year and recent graduate students with a passion and capability in coding and design get to pitch their ideas and portfolios to industry leaders.

How does it work?
Participants go to theappys.ie and fill in the APP-cademy entry form. A select group will be chosen on merit and they get the chance to pitch their ideas and portfolios to industry leaders. They will have ten minutes in front of each person and after ten minutes, the bell tolls, and they move on to the next mentor.

The prize?
A bursary will be supplied by our partner, Nokia Ireland, of a three month internship worth €5,000. This is made up of mentoring, facilities and cash.

The Appys 2011
Keeping with the emerging talent and development theme, APP-cademy will roll into the Appy awards on November the 3rd in the form of a free-to-enter rising star category for students.
